Action Planning: Ault 2010-2011
Goal:
To identify the impact that a positive behavior intervention plan will have on our students. Specifically, how the implementation affects the teachers that currently write the most referrals in our building and how it impacts the "repeat offenders" with returning to the office. Ideally, we will see a decrease in both the number of referrals as well as the types of referrals. We also hope to see a fewer number of repeat students in our offices. Thus, teachers will have more time for teaching and students will remain in their classrooms and with fewer distractions resulting in more learning.

It looks very sisinct. What will be in the lesson plan? You are beginning with this and I am wondering where the lesson plans come from? Are they developed by you, or a team or from research?
ReplyDeleteCould you clarify the point of the lesson plan and the number? By this I mean, is it one, 10-minute lesson plan to the students or is this lesson plan incorporated daily, weekly? Also, is the basis of your plan rewards?
It looks like you began this Aug. 2009 so is there a specific behavior plan you are referring to? Or maybe I should say, what are you going to be doing that is significantly different than what your school already has in place?
I realize you know all this, but just some thoughts to maybe stress your points.
Kyla, a positive intervention plan is always a good thing. I think people in general must learn to recognize how one positive can lead to another. If teachers spend more time utilizing positve interventions, I think a lot of behavior problems would cease. Looking forward to following your research.
ReplyDeleteA positive management plan is great. Unfortunately, some of the students are constantly hearing negative feedback about themselves. It is amazing how a little positive encouragement throughout the day can make a huge difference for children who struggle to have control of their behavior. You seem to have a well thought out plan in place. I like that you are going to have teacher incentives! One wondering...are all referrals entered into the computer system? I know some administrators depending on the required actions don't enter the referral into the computer system.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for the comments, I appreciate you triggering my brain with thoughts. Yes, I am writing the mini-lessons, they are five to ten minute pieces that go through the teaching, the observing, and the role playing. As for the change from last year, we are going to a universal vocabulary system for behavior and rewards. Also, our training was weak last year and not reinforced at all so this year it will have follow through.
